White Sox are Checking their Colon

February 20th, 2008 · 1 Comment

The White Sox appear to be looking at Bartolo Colon as a possibility for their 5th starter. Bartolo has continued to post good strikeout to walk ratios but the homers really seem to be piling up. That’s unlikely to improve in the home park of the White Sox. That said Gavin Floyd is similarly afflicted and his strikeout to walk ratios aren’t necessarily going to be as good.

I suppose this is another “if everything goes right” kind of move designed to give the White Sox at least some sort of outside shot at the postseason, so it’s a fair enough move in that vein.

At least its not the “bring in the wily veteran presence inning eater” premise the Twins are using to take away an opportunity for some young potential….
