What the Hell Was That?

December 15th, 2008 · 6 Comments

Hi folks (if there’s anyone still there). I’m back after a long layoff. I could explain things further, but suffice it to say, life happens.

But I’m back and will be posting more regularly (I hope).

One thing to note is that the site will probably shift a little bit more in the soccer/other stuff direction for a bit as whatever statistical stuff I’m doing right now tends to be more in that area. I have opinions on Homer Bailey and the Hall of Fame like anyone else, but that’s all they really are and you can get those from anybody.

So stay tuned.

Welcome back. It’d be great to see a bit more on soccer, and I’m particularly interested in simulations of the Hex if you’re going to do that again. General commentary is appreciated, too.

Simulations of the Hex? I can do better than that. The very next thing will be simulations of all the remaining qualifiers from all the regions. I’m going to try to update it as more results come in.

Hey Voros, nice to see you around ( although I have zero interest in soccer ).

Your words, “I have opinions on Homer Bailey and the Hall of Fame like anyone else, but that’s all they really are and you can get those from anybody.”. Can I construe this to mean that there is nothing to be said about “baseball analysis” that is being said elsewhere. The reason I think you might think that is that I think that. ( Which is not to compare my knowledge of baseball analysis with yours ).

Anyway, is that what you mean?

Most importantly, where is the Japanese public TV doc on the Red Sox and stat analysis?

I wouldn’t necessarily say everything’s already being said, that’s never true. It’s just that other things are holding my statistical interests a little better. So if a baseball deal happens, I might comment on it, but I’m not really doing anything new with regards to baseball statistics at the moment.

The Japanese TV doc is on a dvd they sent me. I have no idea whether they have it up on the web somewhere.

Voros, glad to have you back. I discovered your site only shortly before “life happened”, and was thrilled to find out you were a footy nut as well, as the two sports I care most about are baseball and soccer. I’ll be interested to see what kinds of things you come up with regarding soccer, as I know there’s been some limited attempts to do deeper analysis of the sport. Welcome back!

I’ve got nothing soccer-ish, but glad to see you back posting! Merry Christmas!
