As I Stew in Abject Poverty…

Jay Mariotti stew’s in the imbecilic asshattery that is his regular column for the Chicago Sun-Times. The thing that always bugs me about Jay is the sneaking suspicion that whether he believes any of the sewage he writes is entirely besides the point to him. For Jay, it’s all about carving out his niche in the ever blathering sportswriting landscape; logic, reason and consistency be damned.

Jay has all the integrity of your average professional wrestling title bout with none of the suspense, and yet he has the nerve to say “I choose integrity” in any way other than the hysterical punchline it is. Jay never fails to find a bloody shirt to wave; this week it’s steroids, next week it’s competitive imbalance, the week after that it’s his perception of a lack of effort on some Chicago sports team. In a perfect world the Mariotti’s of the world would serve as a counterbalance to sunshine and happiness pronouncements from all other corners. But since it appears the entire sportswriting universe has given themselves over to this inanity, Mariotti is just another boring and tedious blowhard.

I HATE Jay Mariotti. He and Bill Plashcke can go live in Papua New Guinea for all I care, and have their bodies carved up an eaten by canibals . . .
