After a long hiatus (about three years) of viewing baseball as not very much fun anymore, I’m back to subject you offer to you my insights on the sport I once analyzed for a living.

What have I been doing? Watching soccer for the most part and having a damn fine time doing it, I might add. But I now think I was a little hard on the sport that made me famous and then broke. The 2007 season was the first time since 2005 I’ve really followed the sport any, so forgive me if I have some catching up to do. (Who the hell is this Joba Chamberlain guy anyway?!?)

On that subject, you’ll have to forgive me if in the next few months I say things and do things others already have done and said. I’m notoriously lazy when it comes to things I don’t get paid for, so if I haven’t read something I should have read, chalk it up to that. I realize a number of excellent books have been published recently in my field, but I really have been watching a lot of soccer so I’m not as familiar with them as I ought to be.

I’m going to try and publish as much inside info on my time in baseball as I can remember but the Seroquel is some potent stuff and lord knows what kind of information it’s pulverized up there. Still I’ve jotted down a couple of amusing/embarrassing/illuminating stories so there will be some of those from time to time.

In short, I hope folks come here to watch a sabermetric icon try and rekindle his passion for the sport of baseball, or at least watch me once again descend into apathy about it. Either way, visit the site early and often. I’m in danger of going into full MSG shock from the Ramen Noodles.

EDIT: a minor edit was made to this page in order to comply with a particular policy.

Welcome back, Voros. You’ve been missed.

Joba’s just a guy that went from A-ball to the Bronx in about half a season. He tops out at 101 mph and has a nasty, nasty slider (that can reach 90 mph!). He’s even got a solid curve and an improving changeup. Ridiculous k:bb ratios. He basically became the ’96 Rivera this year (mostly because he was reaching his ip limit). But next year he’ll be a starter. Oh, and he just turned 22.

PS: i’ve tried to become a soccer fan. i’ve thought to myself, ‘Ok. Now I’m going to really try to become a fan. There MUST be a reason the rest of the world loves it. It’ll happen for me this time.’ But it doesn’t. Although for the next World Cup I’ll try again.

I didn’t get to read your stuff previously, so I’m glad you’re back so I can read it now.

I’d just like to say, I always liked DIPs, and even more than that I enjoyed the shit storm it created.

Welcome back, Voros. You’ve been missed.

Though apparently not by Craig, as I’d imagine from his use of the passive voice.

    But yeah, welcome back.

Well Sky, what I’m looking for is simply a way to enjoy the sport of baseball again. So far so good, and thanks again everyone for the kind words.
